Forestry Laborers - 4 Positions
Full-Time, Seasonal

Responsibilities:
Under supervision, perform manual labor necessary to develop, maintain, or protect forest, forested areas, and woodlands through such activities as raising and transporting tree seedlings; combating insects, pests, and diseases harmful to trees; and building erosion and water control structures and leaching of forest soil. Include forester aides, seedling pullers, and tree planters.
Under supervision for Forestry Supervisor and Forestry Foreman, perform manual labor necessary to reduce fire hazard from Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). Use axes or chainsaws to fell trees using knowledge of tree characteristics and cutting techniques to control direction of fall and prevent damage. Use power brush cutters and hand tools to cut small shrubs.
Cuts trees, brush, and other growth, using chain saw, ax, brush-hook, and other hand tools to clear land for to control growth for WUI fuel reduction (fire prevention). Piling brush and feeding into shredding or chipping machine.
The rate of pay is $9.36-$13.56/hr, depending on experience.

DRUG TESTING POLICY
The successful applicant for employment must submit to a drug test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed. The testing is performed at the laboratory at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone, NY. Test results are normally received in three to five days from the date of the test. In the case of a positive result, the candidate is not eligible for employment with the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe. Employment may not begin until this process has been completed.
