Job Description

The Integrated Resource Management Plan (IRMP) coordinator is the primary point of contact for the Tribe’s natural resource comprehensive strategic management plan developed through leadership activities involving Tribal managers and community involvement processes.  The ultimate goal of the IRMP is to create a balance of natural resource management actions, which reflects the social, cultural, economic, and natural resources of the Akwesasne community. 

The coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing the IRMP Core Team,  developing a schedule for the overall planning and community involvement processes, evaluating, recommending and making budgetary requests as needed to complete IRMP plan publication.

The coordinator is responsible for providing regular progress reports to the Division Director and Tribal Council regarding the IRMP and Core Team. The coordinator is required to submit monthly progress reports to the Director and quarterly status reports to the funding agency. The coordinator is responsible for the completion of the IRMP and its publication and outreach and education of the community about the IRMP.

Qualifications

A minimum four-year degree in business, humanities or science is required.  Candidate must be computer literate and possess, strong research skills.  The coordinator must have strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate leadership, possess strong writing skills and have  desktop publishing skills.  The coordinator must be a strong advocate for integrated resource management and have the confidence and support of the Decision Makers, tribal members, and tribal and government staff members.  Planning experience and ability to work effectively with diverse interests is an important asset.

The position is full-time temporary 40/hrs/week, and will end on Ennisko:wa/March 31, 2009.  The salary range $41,870 to $59,176 is dependent upon candidate qualifications and experience.

DRUG TESTING POLICY

The successful applicant for employment must submit to a drug test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed.  The testing is performed at the laboratory at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone, NY.   Test results are normally received in three to five days from the date of the test.  In the case of a positive result, the candidate is not eligible for employment with the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe.  Employment may not begin until this process has been completed.
