Description of position:
This position is responsible for assisting in and performing water and wastewater general duties and required procedures involved with the operation and maintenance of the Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection system.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Operation and maintenance procedures within the program outside the plants
  • Pump repairs, preventive maintenance, infrastructure repairs, and general maintenance repair
  • Become fully familiarized with the mechanical workings and processes of the water and wastewater treatment, distribution and collection systems
  • Maintain distribution and collection systems including all mains, hydrants, gate valves, shut off devices, pumps, and pump stations
  • This is a twenty - four hour, seven days a week position at times and must be willing to be "on-call"

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (GED)
  • Must have knowledge and experience in some or all of the following fields; electrical, plumbing, and construction. Assist in and perform duties to ensure related facilities are kept in safe and working conditions at all times with emphasis on preventative maintenance.
  • Must be able to maintain monthly operating reports
  • Must have knowledge with computer software and have basic computer operating skills
  • Experience in water and wastewater distribution and collection an asset
  • Water and Wastewater distribution certification an asset
  • Computer technical skills in Microsoft Office, Excel spreadsheet
  • Must have good communication and team skills
  • Must be willing to achieve certification for Water and Wastewater distribution operator within a specified time frame, if do not already possess
  • Must be willing to attend training when available
  • Must be familiar with Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) regulations
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy
