Summary:
In accordance with the elements of competence established for individual programs within the Community and Family Services Division, the MSC Supervisor is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, continuation, monitoring and improvement of the Medicaid Service Coordination Community and Family Services Division, in support of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s organizational mission and goals.  The MSC Supervisor collaborates with the Program Manager of the Family Support Program in developing goals, obtaining/allocating human and physical resources, developing policies and procedures and ensuring adequate financial resources.  The MSC Supervisor provides direct support to the Service Coordinators in carrying out the key roles assigned to them.  The Medicaid Service Coordination Supervisor reports directly to the Family Support Program Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish the Medicaid Service Coordination program, activities and services protocols.
  • Improve program environments within the department to facilitate the achievement of development outcomes.
  • Assist  Service Coordinators to establish program environments that are healthy and safe.
  • Ensure that the program’s facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate the program, services and activities.
  • Oversee Medicaid Service Coordination resources.
  • Oversee Medicaid Service Coordination financial resources.  Monitor MSC budget and spending.
  • Ensure a productive work environment.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of the Service Coordinators.
  • Update and maintain skills in use of current technology and information management systems.
  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders, organizations and agencies.
  • Develop and maintain public relations.
  • Provide Service Coordination to individuals with developmental disabilities, as dictated by the needs of the program

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Medicaid Service Coordination Supervisor is responsible for the complete management and supervision of the program within the department. The MSC Supervisor is additionally responsible to:  work with Service Coordinators on special projects, exercise authority in problems/issues relating to Service Coordinators and may be assigned special projects periodically by the Department Head.

Education and/or Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a health or human services field.
  • Two years experience working with people with developmental disabilities, or a related population.
  • Attendance at an OMRDD-approved Core Service Coordination training program within three months of assuming MSC supervisory responsibilities.
  • Fifteen hours of annual professional development is required.
  • Ability in professional management, supervision and facilities management.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to recruit, retain, train, supervise, and motivate supervisors and staff.
  • Ability to deal effectively with professional staff including, disciplinary problems.
  • Above average knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
  • A broad working knowledge of developmental disabilities and the ability to network with other agencies to provide the best services to consumers.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy. 

Reasoning Ability:

The MSC Supervisor shall have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Internal:      Maintain close, daily contact with the Service Coordinators to interpret and explain organizational mission, department objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information.  Has regular contact with the Service Coordinators to advise, counsel and discipline.
External:     Maintains contact with internal/external community groups and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize the department.

Other:  This position mandates employees to report to or remain at work in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or staff shortage until relieved by their immediate supervisor.
