Residence Supervisor

Division: Community & Family Services, Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA)

Status: Full-time, permanent, exempt

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the IRA Manager, the Residence Supervisor is responsible to work with the IRA Manager in developing and implementing program policies and procedures for Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA). The Residence Supervisor will assist in developing and overseeing program budgets and will provide direct supervision, support and guidance to a team of Direct Support Staff across various shifts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Day:

  • Supervise and support Direct Support Staff
  • Observe staff to evaluate performance and ensure work meets established standards of OPWDD Core Competencies as well as the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.
  • On call for a period of one month: Responsible for filling shifts for call ins and scheduled time off. If supervisor isn’t able to fill a shift, depending on the shift, the supervisor for that shift may cover. On weekends, if unable to fill the shift, the day supervisor will be responsible to work that vacant shift.
  • Provide coverage and float between IRAs to provide coverage within each IRA. May be required to provide direct care to individuals who are unable to attend day program.
  • Meet with Direct Support Staff on a monthly basis
  • Instructs, trains and coordinates agency staff or volunteers in still required to provide services, and ensure adequate covered for operation of the home for the monthly assigned shift.
  • Confers with IRA employees, consultant staff, Service Coordinators and other agency staff as well as the consumers to determine programming needs.
  • At all times, serves as an active and integral member of a multi-disciplinary team with a complete focus to meet program needs and enhance the quality of services provided to the individuals we serve.
  • Records Pertinent information with regard to personnel and consumer programming. Also ensuring all information is communicated to other supervisors and IRA Manager.
  • Coordinate, Implement and monitors consumers individualized service plans. Ensure adequate documentation of services for billing purposes.
  • Participate and act as a role model during IRA activities to ensure that consumers develop good socialization skills and to ensure community integration and inclusion through planned recreation activities.
  • Inspect the IRA physical plan monthly and document compliance with emergency preparedness plans, fire safety and all other life safety codes.
  • Communicate any concerns with regards to operation of the IRA to the IRA manager and other Residence Supervisors in order to work together cooperatively to achieve resolution.
  • Report all incidents, unusual occurrences, accidents or illnesses to the IRA manager and other Residents Supervisors and document in required format.
  • Ensure program compliance with OPWDD IRA regulation and Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe policies and procedures.
  • Each supervisor will still be responsible for completing documentation on their assigned individuals of: Residential Habilitation Plans, ISP, General IPOP, Residential IPOP, Fire Assessments, Personal Expenditure Plans and Money Management. Staff evaluations/Core Competency evaluations will be divided equally among Supervisors on a yearly basis. Supervisor shifts will rotate on a monthly basis of a day, evening and midnight shift.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Evening:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Residence Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of a team of Direct Support Staff across various shifts. This includes scheduling, activities planning, and providing staff with direct supervision during the course of service delivery and other tasks associated with the daily operation of the IRA house. Each supervisor will rotate shifts monthly and provide supervision and feedback to all staff at all IRA homes and shifts.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A minimum of a High School Diploma, Associate’s Degree in Human Services or a related field and a minimum of one year of documented work experience in the field of developmental disabilities, mental health or related field, supervisory experience preferred. A strong understanding of computer use, particularly with regard to electronic documentation is preferred. Successfully obtain all required certification to provide initial and annual trainings.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have excellent computer skills including word, excel, and experience with varying databases. Computer testing in the applicable skills may be a requirement during the interview process. Must maintain Medication Administration Certification.

This position mandates employees to report to or remain at work in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or staff shortage until relieved by their immediate supervisor.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Maintain close, daily contact with the IRA Manager to interpret and explain organization mission, Division objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. This position requires day, evening and midnight shifts which will rotate on a monthly basis. This position also requires weekend and holiday work hours to provide adequate coverage.

Must be at least 18 years of ­age, have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
