The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, Environment Division is offering two (2) part-time, 20-hour per week positions for qualified individuals. Under direction of the Transfer Station Operations Supervisor, the Scalehouse Attendant will be responsible for weighing of solid waste materials and generating sales receipts on a daily basis. Weekend and Holiday work required.
Responsibilities
- The Scalehouse Attendant serves as the first point of contact for customers depositing waste at a the Transfer Station; you will be responsible for calculating payments, checking loads, and ensuring the safety of the customer and other employees through observation of safety rules and regulations through use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- The Scalehouse Attendant greets customers, directs customers and other traffic, and answers questions accurately, ensures that incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material, provides general upkeep of the Scale House, completes all administrative tasks including regular filing, and completes required reports.
- The Scalehouse attendant is responsible for keeping their immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention, attending company sponsored training and meetings as directed, working overtime as needed, and approaching all encounters with employees, customers, and vendors in a friendly, service oriented manner.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications for this position include:
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- Zero to four years previous experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle records check
Preferred Qualifications for this position include:
- High school diploma or G.E.D, plus additional or specialized training. Experience as a cashier.
