LI-HEAP
(LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM)

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is designed to assist low-income households with payment of energy costs. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe has operated the program since 1985.

Income verification and household composition are two of the criteria used to evaluate potential program recipients. After approval, an amount of benefit is assigned to the family and fuel dealers are notified. The LI-HEAP program on the reservation serves 250-350 households each year.
