The Economic Development department's responsibility is to establish economic growth in Akwesasne through entrepreneurship and business development.

Past accomplishments have been: casino development, the Business Directory, the Trade Show and Golf Tournament, business training workshops, a draft engineering study and new business research. Goals for the next five years include tourism, casino development, commercial manufacturing development and use of our natural resources for beaches, recreation areas, parks and nature trails as well as develop snowmobile trails and fishing tournaments.
