STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM (S*T*O*P*)

The STOP Domestic Violence Program, also known as SKE'N:NEN KE'NHA:K (Let there be Peace Forever) provides services to victims of domestic violence. S*T*O*P* refers to Services* Training* Officers * Prosecution*. The main objective of the program is to offer assistance to help reduce the trauma, offer support and ensure the safety of the victim. Services available to the community are education seminars, individual counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy with the court system and with law enforcement, and support groups. The program networks with programs within the Akwesasne Nation to enhance services for the victims of domestic violence and their children. The STOP Domestic Violence Program is working to establish and implement more effective police policies, protocol, orders, and services specifically dedicated to preventing, identifying, and responding to violence in the community.
