WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

This program funded through a Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) grant was established to address fish management issues in reservation waters. To date projects that have been initiated include a sturgeon spawning project started to help re-introduce spawning grounds for sturgeon in the St. Lawrence. Also Atlantic Salmon feasibility studies have been an issue for the past 4 years. The American Eel has been declining and studies will be an on-going issue as well. All of these projects have been combined effort with the United States Geological Service (USGS), the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe (SRMT).
