WETLANDS PROTECTION The wetlands protection program is being developed to encourage the wise management, protection, and restoration of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe's extensive wetland ecosystem. A wetlands preserve program is in the process of being developed with the first acreage of the program located in the Drum Street area. A marsh-monitoring program is also in the process of being developed with volunteers from the community of Akwesasne. Staff of the wetlands protection program is also available to do educational presentations to schools and interested community groups. Information relating to the wetlands protection program can be found on the Environment Division web page, www.srmtenv.org. Wetlands Protection - the wetlands protection program is being developed to aid in the management, protection, and restoration of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe's extensive wetland ecosystem. In addition, a wetlands preserve program is also being developed which will allow the protection of our most valuable wetland areas. |
