AKWESASNE MOHAWK CASINO TO HOST CHARITY
GOLF TOURNAMENT
Proceeds to Benefit Cornwall Community Hospital and Boys and Girls Club

ST. REGIS MOHAWK TRIBE - The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino will be hosting a fundraising event to benefit two local non-profit organizations that provide essential services to our community. The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe's casino announced this year's inaugural event is a charity golf tournament themed "Swing for our Community" to be held at the Cornwall Country Club in Cornwall, Ontario on August 27. All proceeds raised during the event will be used to support the Cornwall Community Hospital and the Boys and Girls Club of Akwesasne.

On January 1, 2004, Cornwall Community Hospital assumed ownership and operation of the former Cornwall General Hospital and the former Hotel Dieu Hospital in order to provide better health care to residents of Eastern Ontario, including Akwesasne. With more than 100 years of combined experience in providing essential medical services, patients from our community will benefit from the newly integrated and expanded health care facility.

The Cornwall Community Hospital, an acute care hospital with approximately 200 beds, offers an assortment of vital services and is currently in the process of developing and expanding its facility. Plans for the expansion include building a fully integrated Emergency Ward at the Hospital's McConnell Street site, expanding and renovating the operating rooms, building of a new facility to accommodate a new CT Scan, expanding and renovating the Maternity Ward and Birthing Rooms and renovating existing infrastructures at both sites. Proceeds from the golf tournament will be allocated for the Maternity and Birthing Wing expansion.

A portion of the funds from the event will also go towards the operational costs of the Boys and Girls Club of Akwesasne, which provides our community's youth with educational, athletic and recreational programs and events.
"We're asking the community to show their support for these organizations by participating in this year's charity event," noted General Manager Dianna Tarbell. "We're reaching out so that these organizations can continue to serve our community."

If you are interested in playing in this year's charity golf tournament, please contact Rebecca Diabo at (518) 358-2222 extension 2310, or email at rdiabo@mohawkcasino.com. Register early to take part in this day of fun, excitement and entertainment. The cost to register is $125 (Canadian) per person with the event getting underway at 10 a.m. on August 27 at the Cornwall Country Club. Sponsors of a hole and generous donations to support these two organizations are also being accepted.
