AKWESASNEThe Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is seeking enrolled tribal members to participate and contribute their knowledge and experiences on an Economic Development Advisory Board being formed. Interested tribal members have until April 14, 2006 to submit their name to the Tribe’s Economic Development Department.
The Economic Development Advisory Board will help the Tribe address its long-term economic development needs. In particular, the Board will work with the Tribe’s Economic Development Department to develop and adopt a comprehensive economic development plan. The Board will help the Department promote private development in the community, provide technical assistance, protect the interests of the community, and undertake economic development projects on behalf of the Tribe.
Interested persons should possess experience in any of the following areas:
Ø Management, Construction, Industry, or Business
Ø Grant and/or Proposal Writing
Ø Finance and/or Government Administration
Ø Non-Profit and/or For-Profit Corporations
The Economic Development Advisory Board makeup shall be representative of the Akwesasne community. Criteria for membership will include being an enrolled member of the Tribe, at least 18 years old, having the time to devote to this issue and an active interest in economic development.
The Economic Development Advisory Board will hold meetings once a month and will work closely with the Tribe’s Economic Development Department. A report of their work will be provided monthly to the Tribal Council, with an economic development plan to be completed in six months.
