TRIBE TO HOST GRADUATE LEVEL COURSE FOR SUMMER SEMESTER
St. Lawrence University to Offer Education Class Beginning May 23rd

AKWESASNE , NY – The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Higher Education Office and St. Lawrence University are teaming up to offer another graduate-level course that can apply towards earning a Masters Degree in Education. EDUC 519B, Educational Statistic and Research, is a five week course will begin meeting on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 .

Tim Versey will be the instructor for the course that meets every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4:00pm-6:45pm in the second floor boardroom of the Tribal Community Building .  Students can register on the first day of class or they can contact Rod Cook at the Tribe’s Higher Education Office at 358-2272 (ext.215).

Educational Statistics and Research is a three-credit course that is designed to assist students in the examination and understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods. This examination process is facilitated by the close scrutiny of educational literature and engaging in the presentation and working through of research problems.  

The courses offered locally by St. Lawrence University are all required for completion of a Masters Degree Program. These programs include General Education Studies, Counseling, and School Administration. The program started in 1995 and since 26 community members have received their Master Degrees.
