TRIBE TO HOLD SWEARING-IN CEREMONY FOR CHIEF AND SUB-CHIEF  
Lorraine White and Donald Thompson to
join the Tribal Council

AKWESASNE – The annual swearing-in ceremonies for incoming St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Council members will be conducted on Friday, July 1st at the Community Building . The ceremonies will welcome newly elected Tribal Chief Lorraine White and Sub-Chief Donald Thompson.

Lorraine White will serve as Tribal Chief for three years and joins Chief James Ransom and Chief Barbara Lazore on the Tribal Council. A University of Connecticut Law School graduate, White returned to the community in 2001 and previously worked as the Tribe’s General Counsel.

A life long resident of Akwesasne, Donald Thompson joins Emily Lauzon and Ron LaFrance as Sub-Chiefs. Thompson will become a member of the Tribal Council after 15 years of operating his own business and as a union ironworker for 25 years.   

The ceremonies will be held at the Tribal Community Building on State Route 37 in Akwesasne , N.Y. The event begins at noon and is open to the media and all community members. A luncheon will follow.
