GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION JULY 28TH
Community Invited to Tour New Faculty
Akwesasne The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Office of the Aging are hosting a grand opening celebration for their new facility Tsi Tetewatatkens “The Place Where We Gather” on

. The community is encouraged to attend and join our seniors in celebrating this milestone.
Funding for this project has been provided by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe, Native Trading Associates, Akwesasne Mohawk Casino,

Palace
, Seniors Advisory Board, The Seniors Club, Akwesasne Housing Authority, Akwesasne Petroleum Co-op, Senior’s Building Fund Golf Tournament, Eli Tarbell, and Allan Garrow, and various other fundraising events throughout the community since 1999.
The Office of the Aging and their approximately five hundred (500) Senior Club Members had outgrown their modest 20-year old building located next to the Tribe’s
Community
Building
. The new facility is 9,084 square feet and includes a larger dining and lounge area, suitable for community meals and entertainment. It will also feature rooms for a computer lab, administrative offices, library, exercise, crafts and space for a nutritionist and nurse. The new facility has cost an estimated $1.7 million dollars to construct.
The celebration will be held at their new facility located just off State Route 37 behind the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s
Justice
Building
at
457 Business Park Road
. The event will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony and opening remarks will be provided by Chief Barbara Lazore, Sub-Chief Ron LaFrance Jr. and Seniors Club President Benjamin Kelly, Sr. A light lunch will be provided by the Community Partnership and musical entertainment will be provided by the Thundertones.
