TRIBE SETTLES ST. LAWRENCE HOTEL LAWSUIT
 $11,970 Payment Resolves Five-Year-Old Charges

AKWESASNE , N.Y. — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe has successfully reached a settlement to a lawsuit filed over an alleged debt to the St. Lawrence Hotel in Massena , New York .  A payment in the amount of $11,970.07 was agreed to by the St. Lawrence Hotel, Milo Delaine-Taylor and the Tribe.

The St. Lawrence Hotel Company sued the Tribe late last year alleging it owed the Hotel $9,784.52, plus unspecified interest, for bills. The suit was for charges that supposedly went unpaid over a ten-month period between October 1999 and August 2000.

“We’re pleased to have reached a cooperative settlement,” said Tribal Staff Attorney Danielle M. Lazore. “Throughout the litigation, the Tribe remained committed to paying any debts it legitimately and verifiably owed.”
