SOLID WASTE TRANSFER STATION GRAND OPENING
Community Members encouraged to attend August 11th Celebration

AKWESASNE , N.Y. — The Solid Waste Transfer Station is holding a grand opening celebration on August 11, 2005 , from 1p.m. until 3p.m. The celebration will include remarks from Tribal Council and Environment Staff as well as refreshment for all those in attendance.

The project to develop the transfer station began in 1997 when a grant to develop a comprehensive solid waste management program was received from the United States Environmental Protection Agency.  The transfer station is just one component of the Solid Waste Program that will provide for the safe disposal of wastes. 

This new facility is located at 179 County Route 43 ( McElwain Road ), just off State Route 37. Hour of operation will be Tuesday through Saturday 7:30am to 3p.m. Tipping fees are $80.00 per ton.
