OPEN COMMENT PERIOD ON WATER BILLING FOR BUSINESSES

AKWESASNE , NY – The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Planning and Infrastructure Department is in the process of implementing a water billing system for all businesses within the Akwesasne territory. A 30-day public comment period is being provided for community members to better understand the billing system, as well as to submit suggestions.

Following the comment period, the Tribe will proceed with the system's implementation by conducting an inventory of all fixtures within each business. Initial billing will be based on the number and type of fixtures each business has. The new system will help Planning and Infrastructure to better track usage and to provide improved service to businesses.

Written comments should be submitted to Sean Martin, Water Plant Manager, before December 1, 2005. The Tribe will provide a written response by January 1, 2006 to any comments received during the 30-day period.
