TRIBE CONTINUES TO SEEK MEMBERS FOR
TRIBAL ELECTION BOARD

AKWESASNE , NY —The St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Council is continuing to seek tribal members interested in serving on the Tribe’s Election Board. Each tribal member appointed to the 3-person Board will strive to ensure that the best interests of the Akwesasne community are represented.

Election Board members will assist in providing for uniform and consistent procedures for all tribal elections and referendums. Duties include calling for and receiving nominations, verification of candidates and voters, requisition of absentee ballots, arranging for personnel to staff elections, and providing for public announcements of official election results.  

To be considered for the Election Board, individuals must be an enrolled member of the Tribe, knowledgeable of the Tribe’s customs and practices, and a resident on the U.S. portion of Akwesasne.

Interested tribal members are encouraged to submit their letter of intent to Diane McDonald, Executive Assistant to the Tribal Council, at the Tribe’s Community Building .
