LIHEAP WOULD LIKE TO REMIND TRIBAL MEMBERS OF FUEL ASSISTANCE REQUIREMENTS

AKWESASNE, NY — On November 29^th, Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council announced that  $600 in fuel assistance was being made available to low-income families in the Akwesasne community to help with home heating costs this winter. The Tribe's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) would like to remind tribal members of eligibility requirements to receive the home heating assistance.

·   Individuals need to be an enrolled member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe.

·   Individuals need to be a resident on the U.S.-side of Akwesasne.

·   Individuals need to be more than 60-years-old
Or,

·   Individuals need to be eligible for LIHEAP.

Community members interested in receiving fuel assistance need to apply at the Tribe's LIHEAP Office, or by calling Sharon Thompson at (518) 358-2272 (ext. 212).
