SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Air Quality Program Manager, the Air Quality Technician is responsible for field sampling, maintaining log books, tabulating data, working with spreadsheets and all aspects of sampling and monitoring.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
· Exhibit a friendly and courteous manner when dealing with our employees and fellow associates.
· Sample Collection:
• Collect samples of air soil water or other materials for analysis
• Clearly label, track and ensure the integrity of samples
· Use Laboratory Equipment:
• Microscope
• IAQ Surveyor
• Smoke Wand
• Radon Monitor
• Sensors
· Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of all equipment, which includes preparing and sending the equipment out for annual calibrations.
· Maintain project logbook records or computer program file
· Record laboratory or field data, including numerical data, test results, photographs, or summaries of visual observations.
· Outreach and Education on Environmental Issues throughout Akwesasne and surrounding areas
· Review work plans to schedule activities
· Update quality assurance project plans as needed.
· Perform weekly calibrations on air monitoring instruments
· Prepare and package environmental samples for shipping or testing
· Research product information, identify vendors or suppliers, or order materials or equipment to maintain inventory.
· Troubleshoot equipment problems and repair on-site.
· Sit on National/Regional/Local groups focusing on air pollution.
· Travel is required with this position.
· Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Associates degree (A. A.) or certificate from two-year College in Environmental Science, Technology or related field
OR
· 2 years related experience and/or training;
OR
· Equivalent combination of education and experience with environmental awareness.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have excellent computer skills including word, excel, and experience with varying databases as well as software.
· Ability to work with in small environments such as attics, basements, etc
· Comfortable using required PPE (full face masks, safety glasses, disposable coveralls, gloves)
· Be able to walk over uneven ground
· The ability to come up with unique solutions for problem solving
· Be willing to travel (fly or drive) during the workweek for trainings in different locations of the country
· Be able to work with minimal supervision
· Be able to work in a team environment
· Be able to collect samples on weekends and holidays as requested
· Be able to work outside normal working hours
Must be at least 18 years of age, have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
The successful candidate must pass a drug test and background check prior to employment.
