CALLOUT FOR TRIBAL PROCEDURES ACT WORKING GROUP

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is seeking three (3) tribal members to voluntarily serve on a working group to review the 2013 Tribal Procedures Act (the “Act”) (TCR 2013-32) with the Tribal Council and its advisors, and most importantly general membership for the purpose of discussing, drafting, and proposing amendments, which will include membership consultation meetings until the commencement of the amendment process under the Tribal Election and Referendum Ordinance (TCR 2022-52). The working group shall continue to consult with membership during the 90-day period before a scheduled referendum to review, explain, and obtain feedback from members on the proposed amendments.

Members of the Working Group shall be responsible to:

  • Acknowledge and adhere to the Tribal Code of Conduct for Boards/Commissions and Committees;
  • Attend and participate in Working Group meetings;
  • Correspond and meet with Tribal staff;
  • Compiling and reviewing information on proposed amendments to the Act;
  • Attend membership meetings to obtain comments on the current Act, present information, and proposed amendments to the community, and review any comments to deliberate proposed amendments with members of the Working Group and tribal staff;
  • Be knowledgeable of the current Act and processes therein to answer questions from membership during meetings or submitted in writing; and
  • Maintaining respect and courtesy for group members.

To volunteer for the Working Group, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
  • Be an enrolled member of the SRMT; and
  • Pass a criminal background check and drug test.
