College and High School Interns

SUMMARY: The College Career and High School Interns will be placed within various departments of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe: Applicants will be under the supervision of department requesting interns and Career Coordinator. Applicants will be interning in areas specific to their career path.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Job placements will vary upon request from departments requesting summer College Career and High School Interns
  • Attend program orientations
  • Assist program directors and or managers with office tasks including but not limited to: filing, answer phones, copying, faxing, mailing correspondence
  • May plan and work with supervisor to implement various activities
  • Must adhere to Tribal and departmental policies
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment as needed

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Have a positive attitude, be energetic, self-motivated, open-minded and willingness to learn from placement. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required for College Interns:

  • Be currently enrolled in college and returning in the fall 2019
  • Youth between 14-17 must possess a New York State work permit
  • They may obtain applications at their respective school(s) Guidance Department
  • Income verification may apply to some positions

Required for High school Interns and returning in the fall:

  • Youth between 14-17 must possess a New York State work permit
  • They may obtain applications at their respective school(s) Guidance Department
  • Income verification may apply to some positions

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Strong oral and written communication skills required. May have computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe and experience with varying databases.

ELIGIBILITY LIST

A list of qualified candidates is created from interviews that may be used to appoint individuals to similar positions within the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe for a period of six months.

Testing in the applicable skills may be required as part of the interview process.
