SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Construction Supervisor employee must report daily to Saint Regis Mohawk Tribes Construction Department garage and receive daily instructions for our various construction projects. Perform tasks involving physical labor installing septic systems, water services and minor road construction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Exhibit a friendly and courteous manner when dealing with our employees and fellow community members.
- Operation of small power tools: air hammer, earth tampers, chain saws and power drills.
- Assist in the cleaning and preparation of work sites.
- Establish bench marks and shoot grades for various construction projects.
- Assist in electrical hook-ups for mini pump stations for individual sewer systems.
- Operate small heavy equipment.
- Update basic vehicle maintenance sheets.
- Assist in snow removal during the winter months.
- Be on call at all times to assist in water main line break repairs.
- Responsible for helping to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maybe required to assist Water Treatment and Waste Water Treatment employees in minor repairs
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisor requirements for this position,
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Experience working with water main pipeline construction and individual septic systems is an asset. The basic knowledge of how to operate and shoot elevation grades with a laser level transit is a requirement.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age, and have and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Vehicle Fleet Policy. Obtain and maintain the following educational trainings: OSHA 10, First Aid, CPR and Confined space training. Ability to properly lift 50 pounds.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Strong communication skills with fellow employees are required. The ability to solve practical problems that may occur in the field. Some knowledge of heavy equipment repairs is an asset. Ability to safely operate all equipment and tools need for the position.
Must be at least 18 years of age, have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
