SUMMARY:

The Lead Gaming Inspector supervises a team of gaming inspectors. The St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission employs and directs non-uniformed inspectors to enter and inspect any gaming facility on tribal land in which games are operated pursuant to the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Ordinance, the Tribal-State Compact between the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe and the State of New York and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988. Such inspectors shall be employed and directed for the purpose of protecting the Tribe, the Gaming Public, and the Tribe’s gaming operations from unsuitable, unfair, or illegal practices and methods in the conduct of gaming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor attendance of assigned team of inspectors.
  • Review reports from previous shifts.
  • Assign daily duties to Gaming Inspectors.
  • Monitor inspector’s progress of assigned duties.
  • Review all report submissions from team members.
  • Prepare daily shift and pass-along reports.
  • In the absence of the Chief Inspector and/or the Inspectors Manager, the Lead Inspector is the acting liaison between the Tribal Gaming Commission Inspectors Department and the Surveillance Department, the NYSP, Tribal Police Department, all gaming facilities management and the gaming public.
  • Review; approve/deny leave requests from team members.
  • The Lead Inspector is responsible for maintaining adequate staffing levels for the shift.
  • Maintain a positive and professional work environment for all team members.
  • Investigate, document and report to the Senior Inspector any work performance deficiencies committed by, or complaints made against, any team member.
  • Act, as needed, to correct any work deficiencies committed by, or substantiated Complaints made against, team members
  • Maintain the strictest level of confidentiality regarding all gaming related documents and business matters.
  • Work scheduled shifts as assigned.
  • Monitor and observe management, employees, and patrons of tribal gaming facilities to ensure internal controls are practiced.
  • Conduct regular audits of the Tribe’s gaming facilities testing for compliance to all written standards of operation and management as provided in the Ordinance, the Compact, or the IGRA which shall include:
    • The rules of each game of chance operated by the Tribe;
    • Permissible methods of payment;
    • Internal organization and management of the gaming operations;
    • Security and surveillance methods;
    • Accounting and cash control procedures; and
    • Other record keeping requirements.
  • Testing of electronic gaming devices and systems which shall include:
    • Testing and verification of all game program storage media;
    • Bill testing of electronic gaming machines and systems;
    • Field testing of electronic gaming devices and systems; and
    • Other testing as required.
  • Investigate and report to the Senior Inspector:
  • Complete all reports in a neat, timely, and professional manner.
  • Maintain a courteous demeanor with all patrons, employees, and management of the Tribe’s gaming facilities.
  • Cooperate with other regulatory agencies and/or law enforcement personnel.
  • Adhere to dress code as established by the Commission
  • Monitor inspectors’ progress throughout the year and prepare inspectors’ annual performance appraisal.
  • Ensure construction and maintenance of all gaming facilities and the operation of all activities is conducted in a manner that adequately protects the environment and public health and safety of all individuals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent, two years supervisor experience and two years of gaming experience is the minimum requirement for the position.

Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the area of management, business, or a related gaming field, two-years supervisory experience; and a minimum of two years’ experience in gaming is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise and manage the Tribal Gaming Commission’s Inspectors and equipment. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employee(s); planning, assigning, and directing workloads; appraising performances; rewarding and disciplining employee(s); addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must obtain and maintain a Class III occupational gaming license issued from the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have excellent computer skills including word, excel, outlook, and experience with varying databases. Knowledge of current protocols and standards including TCP/IP, HTTP, DHCP, SMTP, Windows Server, and VMware.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form and solve practical problems.

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe has adopted a “Tribal Employee Vaccination Policy” that requires all employees to be “Fully Vaccinated” against the Coronavirus.
