Salary Range: $27,435.30 to 44,241.60 ($13.19 to 21.27)

Status: Full-time, permanent, non-exempt

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining, updating and certifying enrollment/membership of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Exhibit a courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public and fellow associates.
  • Membership/enrollment application process in accordance with the Tribal Membership procedures
  • Assist in the Membership Denial process.
  • Maintain the Denial Letter Log
  • Maintain the Incoming/Outgoing mail log
  • Research family tree
  • Verify submitted information/documentation
  • Enter data into Progeny software (family tree research may be required)
  • Build queries for statistical purposes to assist various tribal programs
  • Updating and maintaining membership files.
  • Issue Tribal identification cards
  • Issue certification letters and/or verification letters of enrollment for educational, health, jury duty, social security, land ownership.
  • Filing, photocopying, recording and scanning documents
  • Answering phones, forwarding calls and taking messages
  • Other related duties assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: High school diploma with at least three years’ clerical experience and at least one years’ customer service experience.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have excellent computer skills including word, excel, and experience with varying databases. Time management, note taking skills, confidentially in all aspects of the job and multi-tasking is a must. Also, the ability to work with the public in a helpful, friendly and courteous manner. Computer testing in the applicable skills may be a requirement during the interview process.

REASONING ABILITY: The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience so others will understand. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
