SUMMARY: The Multimedia Journalist oversees the creation and production of multimedia content for the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe, across various platforms, including video, audio, and digital media. This role involves managing all aspects of content production, from conceptualization through to final delivery, ensuring high-quality and engaging content that aligns with the organization’s goals and brand.

Under the direction of the Akwesasne TV Program Manager/Executive Producer, the Multimedia Journalist is responsible for developing content from within Tribal Programs that informs, and connects our audience on multiple platforms. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Conceptualize, plan, and produce multimedia content, including videos, podcasts, animations, and interactive media in collaboration with Tribal Programs.
  • Collaborate with creative teams, such as Communications, Tribal Council and the Executive Director’s Office, to develop content strategies and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the production process from pre-production to post-production, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop production schedules, manage resources, and coordinate with Tribal Programs to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Provide creative direction and guidance on multimedia projects, including visual style, storytelling techniques, and technical aspects.
  • Review and approve content drafts, ensuring they meet quality standards and align with the organization’s brand and messaging.
  • Manage the use of multimedia equipment and software, including cameras, editing software, and audio recording tools.
  • Oversee the distribution of multimedia content across various platforms, including Tribally owned websites, social media, and digital marketing channels.
  • Monitor performance metrics and analytics to assess the effectiveness of content and make data-driven improvements. Ie: Google analytics, E-clincher, etc.
  • Ensure that all multimedia content meets high standards of quality and adheres to the ATV brand and within the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s style guide.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in multimedia production.
  • Explore new formats and techniques to enhance content and engagement.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisory duties for this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Film or Media Studies, AND
  • One (1) year of relevant working experience in the field. 

OR

  • Associate’s degree in Communications, Film or Media Studies, AND
  • Two (2) years of working experience within a relevant field.

OR

  • Equivalent, relevant combination of education/experience in Communications, Film or Media Studies.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills required. 
  • Strong computer skills and experience working with video equipment
  • Knowledge of working with video cameras and computer software like Adobe, Adobe Suite, and Final Cut Pro editing software
  • Knowledge of Akwesasne, its unique geography, and its various political structures would be an asset
  • Knowledge of the Mohawk language would be an asset
  • Solid writing skills
  • Familiarity with AP/CP Style
  • Superior research skills and seamless familiarity with social media platforms
  • Detailed-oriented, with the ability to organize time and workflow effectively
  • Advanced knowledge of web, mobile, and social media tools and industry trends

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Possession of a valid Driver License in accordance with Fleet Policy. Must have own vehicle.
