At the end of 2016, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe convened three public meetings to discuss the need to develop of a “Good Standing Policy.” These brainstorming sessions with the community were successful, with input provided on what good standing means for the Tribe. This led to internal research and the review of processes to determine the possibility of a policy. Following these steps in policy development, a Good Standing Policy was drafted.

Before the Tribe moves any further, it will reconvene with the community to review the draft policy to ensure community collaboration is conducted in an effective manner before implementation. As a result, tribal members are encouraged to attend the public review meeting to provide input.
