Arrests Made in Shooting Incident

At approximately 8:20 a.m. on March 16, 2012, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department received a complaint of gun fire at the residence of 54 St. Regis Rd., Akwesasne, NY.

Upon arrival, police observed a large amount of spent ammunition casings in the driveway and a blood trail from the driveway to the front door of the residence. Police found the residence to be vacated at this time.

At approximately 8:29 a.m., a lone male walked into Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance Station in Akwesasne, QC. The male presented himself with a gun shot wound to the lower leg. The male was identified as Chance H. Thompson, 28, of Akwesasne (Cornwall Island), Ontario. He was transported by ambulance to Cornwall Community Hospital.

A joint investigation commenced with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police, New York State Police, Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service and the New York State Forensic Investigation Unit that resulted in the arrest of two Akwesasne men. John D. Logan Jr., 27 of 20 Johnson Rd. Akwesasne, QC and Edward Logan, 24, of 47 Third St., Akwesasne, QC were charged with Assault in the First Degree, a class B Felony.

Both subjects were arraigned before Hon. Judge Smith at the Bombay Town Court. Both subjects were remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash, and $50,000 bond and ordered to re-appear on March 20, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the Bombay Town Court.

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police believe that this was an isolated incident and all suspects are in custody.
