Blue Bag Collection Update

Sep 11, 2012

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Solid Waste, Blue Bag waste collection program offers its thanks to Blue Bag collection customers. This service provides the most cost-effective way to manage solid waste and to recycle. This program is one of the many services offered by the Tribe’s Solid Waste Program. It is constantly looking for new services to offer community members sound solid waste management options resulting in the reduction of open dumping and open burning. These practices are harmful to us all.

The Solid Waste Program is stepping up efforts to improve customer service for existing customers and to gain new customers. The aim of the Blue Bag program is to ensure that its customers are receiving satisfactory services.

Consistent and regular Blue Bag pick up it requires that all Blue Bag customers place their Blue Bags by the curbside by 7:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. Blue Bag collection takes place every Tekeníhaton/Tuesday beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. for all routes in the Akwesasne territory.

The policy of the program is that if a pick-up is missed because the bags were not out in time, the driver will not return to collect them. They will be collected on the next scheduled pick-up. The driver keeps a record for the collection run noting if Blue Bags aren’t out for him to pick up. The program’s policy is that if the driver makes an error and fails to collect the bags, someone will return to collect them and make it right that day.

Should anyone have any particular Blue Bag collection requirements, they may call the office to inform the program of them before the next collection day to be accommodated.
