Tribe Expresses Condolences for the Passing of Reginald White

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council expressed its sympathy for the family of Reginald White who recently passed away at age 87. “Not only was he a respected leader in our community, he was a World War II veteran and he will be missed,” said Tribal Chief Randy Hart. Mr. White served in the European Theater of Operations and received several medals for his military service. “Our heart-felt condolences go out to Reggie’s family,” remarked Tribal Chief Ron LaFrance. “He accomplished a lot during his lifetime and everybody will remember him for his relationships with others and what he did for Akwesasne.”
Mr. White served the community as a Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Chief from 1978 to 1981. “The time he spent serving as a Tribal Chief is only one of the ways that Reggie served the community,” said Paul Thompson, Tribal Chief. “The community has benefitted from Reggie’s involvement and commitment to various projects and activities.” He began ironworking at age 14 and retired in 1975, but stayed active in the community in a variety of capacities such as supervising construction, farming, watching sports, telling stories and spending time with his family.
