Tribe Shows Support for Ironworkers

Sep 6, 2012

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council has been showing its support for the members of Local 440 Ironworkers. “We’ve been on the picket line along with the ironworkers from the community,” stated Tribal Chief Ron LaFrance. “We think it’s important that this type of project uses local workers to support the local economy.” In addition to walking on the picket line, the tribe has provided food and water to the picketers.

The Tribal Council encourages community members to show their support for the ironworkers and their legal picket. “At 6:00 a.m. Friday morning, September 7, we encourage community members to attend the support rally for the ironworkers,” said Tribal Chief Paul O. Thompson. The rally will take place at the main entrance of the Alcoa plant, located on Alcoa Road.
