Tribe and National Grid Agree to Suspend Field Terminations

Oct 4, 2013

Scheduled to Resume in April 2014

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council and National Grid have reached an agreement to suspend field terminations on the Saint Regis Mohawk Reservation until April 2014. This agreement was effective September 30, 2013. National Grid will continue all other forms of collections (phone call, letters, etc.) including the dormant review process, which are physical visits required to validate safety at all premises that were disconnected. Power will continue to be supplied to new and existing customers.

During the interim, it is strongly recommended if you have, or believe you have, an outstanding balance that you contact National Grid to enter into a payment plan. If you have already entered into a payment plan agreement, it is equally important that you keep the terms of that agreement.

The Tribe has also committed to working cooperatively with National Grid to educate Akwesasne residents with a Mohawk speaking community advocate, who will be available to work with community members.

Consumers with questions or wishing to set up a payment plan are encouraged to contact Victoria Homer from the Consumer Advocacy Group. She can be reached at 315-460-7015.
