Partial Reopening of Generations Park Announced

Jul 14, 2020

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center is providing notification that additional facilities at Generations Park have reopened for the community’s use and enjoyment. In addition to the Tewathahitha Walking Trail that has remained open since late-March; community members can now utilize the practice field, basketball court, pavilion, and restroom facilities.

The playground, Travis Solomon Memorial Lacrosse Box, Main field and concession stand remain closed at this time. The main field will open when it has recovered from the recent drought conditions.

When utilizing the reopened facilities at Generations Park, individuals are required to follow the mandatory park rules displayed on signage at the Park, including:

  • All individuals must continue to maintain a six-foot distance from others and not gather in groups, unless with members of the same household; and
  • Masks must be worn when social distancing is not possible.

Restroom facilities are available for hand washing and will be available until 9:00 p.m. each night during the week and until 6:00 p.m. on weekends. Restrooms will be cleaned by custodial staff twice each day.

Parents are reminded to supervise their children and recognize that the park is “Play at your own risk.”

No public reservations will be taken for field time or pavilion use, so as not to promote large gatherings.

As a reminder, outdoor gatherings must be limited to fifty (50) people or less and social distancing must be maintained — in accordance with TCR 2020-23 “To Adopt Reopening Guidelines for the Community of Akwesasne.”
