SRMT EOC Reports 7 New COVID-19 Cases, 17 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services is reporting seven (7) new cases of COVID-19 in the southern portion of Akwesasne. One (1) individual is being hospitalized, while four (4) individuals have been released from isolation since Friday, August 13 -- leaving seventeen (17) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Around twenty-one (21) family members and friends remain in quarantine at home and following public health guidance. We extend them all our best wishes for a safe and complication-free recovery.

Amid a rise in cases of the COVID-19 Delta Variant across the country, the SRMT EOC strongly urges community members ages 12 and up to get vaccinated as soon as possible to help keep our community members who are unable to be vaccinated safe.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is holding the next Open Walk-In Vaccine Clinic on Wednesday, August 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend, but keep in mind that minors require a parent to be present. Individuals can also schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine by calling Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services at (518) 358-3141.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is also conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at their main campus located at 404 State Route. Please use the road located across from McGee Road follow the signs for testing garage.

Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a COVID-19 test by contacting Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Massena at (315) 705-0700. The PCR Test is free however, requests to receive a Rapid Test is at the individual’s expense.
