AKWESASNE - The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services reported forty-four (44) new case of COVID-19 in Akwesasne’s southern portion since our last update on December 21, 2021. They are pleased that twenty-five (25) community members have been released from isolation, but there remain 51 total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. There are two (2) individuals hospitalized, but are not considered active cases due to the amount of time under the hospital’s care. There is no update on the 32 family members and friends in quarantine at home to prevent further spread. We wish them all a safe recovery.

Also, please retain the test kit, as positive results will require the lot number listed on the package.

If positive, please isolate at home away from others and notify SRMT Contact Tracers at (518) 333-0230. During the holiday break, please report your positive result to Franklin County Public Health at (518) 521-4877 or St. Lawrence County Public Health at (315) 386-2325. It is important that you self-report your positive result to track transmissions and prevent any further community spread of the virus.

If negative and still symptomatic, please isolate at home, wear a mask, and administer a second test 24 to 36 hours after the initial test.
