Tribe’s EOC Reports 2 New COVID-19 Cases: 18 Quarantined

Apr 6, 2021

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting two (2) new cases of COVID-19 today — making eight (8) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. No relatives were released from isolation and eighteen (18) family members and friends remain in quarantine. We extend appreciation to everyone who is helping to keep our numbers low, but we must hold the line longer and encourage individuals to get vaccinated.

The Tribe’s Health Services is conducting a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic this week for individuals with social or economic connections to the Akwesasne community. The walk-in vaccination clinic will be held at the former-IGA Building on Thursday, April 8th beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (Noon), or until supplies last. Being vaccinated is an opportunity to help keep those who cannot receive the vaccine healthy and safe.

The vaccine clinic is for individuals 18-years or older who are interested in receiving the Moderna vaccine. Non-native spouses of Tribal Members and Akwesasne employees who reside in Canada are also eligible to receive the vaccine. Canadian residents should contact CBSA beforehand about quarantine requirements upon their return to Canada. For more information, please call Katrina Jacobs, SRMT Office of Emergency Management and Safety, at (518) 358-2272 extension 2210.

A COVID-19 Test Collection Clinic will be held at the former-IGA Building on Tuesday, April 20th, but Akwesasne residents and employees can still schedule a COVID-19 test by calling Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or their Massena facility at (315) 705-0700. Tests should only be taken if you have been outside of your immediate household bubble, not following protective measures, and no sooner than seven (7) days after suspected exposure to a positive case.

For more information about the Tribe’s vaccination process or to check your COVID-19 test results, please call Health Service’s new direct line at (518) 333-0230. Please leave your name and a good telephone number for a healthcare worker to call back.

If you have a non-emergency matter, please call the Emergency Operations Center at (518) 320-0019; Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
