Tribe’s EOC Reports Zero New COVID-19 Cases: 2,825 Prime Vaccinations

Mar 30, 2021

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 today — leaving seven (7) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Eight (8) family members and friends remain in quarantine following guidance from public health. We extend an appreciation for your continued adherence to safety protocols and for helping to keep our case numbers low.

Sixty-five (65) Prime vaccinations were conducted today by the Tribe’s Health Services — making 2,825 Akwesasne residents, workers, and others with community connections receiving their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. 1,558 have received their Booster, or second shot, for 4,383 total doses administered by Health Services. We ask everyone who is scheduled to receive their second shot to please receive it to help ensure more vaccines are available in the future.

The Tribe’s Health Services is holding one more COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic this week for individuals with family, employment, or other community connections. The walk-in vaccination clinic will be held at the former-IGA Building on Thursday, April 1st beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (Noon), or until supplies last. The vaccine clinic is for individuals 18-years or older who are interested in receiving the Moderna vaccine, as well as for a limited number of 16 and 17-year-olds for the Pfizer vaccine.

Non-native spouses of Tribal Members or employees who reside in Canada are eligible to receive the vaccine and should contact CBSA regarding quarantine requirements upon return to Canada. For more information, please call Katrina Jacobs, SRMT Office of Emergency Management and Safety, at (518) 358-2272 extension 2210.

Akwesasne residents and employees can still schedule a COVID-19 test by calling Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or their Massena facility at (315) 705-0700. Tests should only be taken if you have been outside of your immediate household bubble, not following protective measures, and no sooner than seven (7) days after suspected exposure to a positive case.

Please keep in mind that individuals who are awaiting COVID-19 test results cannot receive a vaccination. For more information about the Tribe’s Vaccine Clinic or to check your COVID-19 test results, please call Health Service’s new direct line at (518) 333-0230. Please leave your name and a good telephone number for a healthcare worker to call back.
