Mohawk New York State Supreme Court Justice Visits Akwesasne

On Ohiarihkó:wa/July 14, 2016, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council welcomed New York State Supreme Court Justice Mark Montour to Akwesasne. Justice Montour, is a tribally enrolled member and the son of Roy and Wilma Montour. He is the first Native American to serve on the New York State Supreme Court and currently presides over the Eighth Judicial District, providing a voice for Native peoples across Western New York. Justice Montour was visiting the Akwesanse community and stopped by the Tribe for an introductory meeting with the Tribal Council.
