Health Insurance Counseling
The purpose of HIICAP (Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program) is to help you understand Medicare and other health insurance matters. The services are free and unbiased. Trained staff and volunteers simply help you understand the health care system and benefits for which you may eligible. Administered by the NYS Office for the Aging.

NY Connects provides information, referrals, and assistance to elders, disabled individuals of any age and their families, and professionals in finding, understanding, and applying for available programs and benefits.
Legal Aid
Legal Aid handles civil cases, not criminal. Some matters Legal Aid can assist with include: Government and Unemployment Insurance benefits, Disability, Health Care, Housing, Family Law, Consumer Problems. A paralegal from the Legal Aid office in Canton comes to the center twice monthly. Appointments are required and can be made by calling the center. The service is free to eligible partiCipants and confidential.
Medical Transportation
Home Modification
There are programs available to help seniors with modifications to make their home more accessible and safe. Examples of a modification include, installing grab bars, building a ramp, fixing loose steps. Contact the center directly to see if you qualify for assistance.
