Chief Ross Garrow

It is a great honour to have been elected as Tribal Chief in the 2025 election. As a proud member of the Akwesasne community—where I was born and raised—I am deeply committed to serving our people with integrity and dedication.

My parents are Sam Garrow Sr. (Wolf Clan) and Terry White (Turtle Clan). I am the grandson of Morris White and Hilda Bero on my mother’s side, and Alex and Agnes Garrow on my father’s side. My wife, Amanda (Cook) Garrow, and I were married on September 1, 2007. Together, we are the proud parents of three beautiful children: Mackenzie, Kenadie, and Max.

I pursued my post-secondary education in Criminal Justice and began my career with the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission in March 1999. Over the years, I advanced from Gaming Inspector to Lead Inspector, then Chief Inspector, and ultimately Inspector Manager, where I had the privilege of leading a team of 19 employees.

In addition to my professional experience, I served as the Eastern Region Delegate for the National Tribal Gaming Commissioners and Regulators for approximately eight years, helping to foster cooperative relationships among tribal regulators throughout Indian Country.

I also served on the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe Police Commission for five years, including two years as Chairperson. During that time, we upheld the policies and procedures of the Police Commission Act and supervised the Chief of Police. Our focus was on community policing—strengthening public safety and building trust within the southern portion of Akwesasne.

As Tribal Chief, I am committed to working collaboratively with our community members, Council, and Tribal Administration to build a strong, healthy, and unified Akwesasne. I will continue to advocate for transparency, accountability, and long-term planning rooted in our cultural values.
