Contractor to Conduct Flyover of Akwesasne

Conducting Forest Inventory

An independent contractor will be making an aerial flyover on Thursday June 2 or Friday June 3 of this week, depending on the weather. They will be in a fixed wing aircraft flying at about 1500 feet and will fly over at around 12:00 noon. The purpose of the flyover is to photograph trees and vegetation as part of a forest inventory and cover type assessment.

The last flyover was in 2003 and the new imagery will be used to detect changes in forest composition due to environmental factors. The community is advised of the flyover and to not be alarmed. Any questions can be directed to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe, Environment Division, (518) 358-5937.
