Consumer Advocate Information Provided for National Grid

Aug 8, 2013

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe has received notice that National Grid is on the territory conducting shut offs for customers in arrears. To avoid disconnection, community members are strongly encouraged to contact National Grid’s consumer advocacy group at 315-460-7015 (Vicky) to set up a payment plan.

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe reminds all National Grid customers that National Grid provides electrical services to the community pursuant to an “Electric Service Agreement” that was approved by a community referendum in 2008. As a part of this Agreement, each customer of National Grid signs an individual service agreement when they request service in which they agree to make regular payments, or face shut off of services.

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe has taken steps over the last several years to require National Grid to follow their own guidelines in conducting shut offs on the territory in the same manner, with the same notice and other protections they afford to individuals off of the territory. We will continue to monitor National Grid’s adherence to the requirements of the 2008 Agreement.
