AKWESASNE -- The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Environment Division is notifying community members that a 30-day Public Comment Period is being provided for an environmental assessment. The Raquette River Boat Launch, is the proposed construction of a new access facility on the Raquette River. The proposed boat launch development will utilize approximately 3 acres for construction of a two-lane concrete boat launch, parking for passenger vehicles, vehicles with trailers, and ADA compliant walkways and docks. The project seeks to improve access to waterways and recreation opportunities on the Raquette and St. Lawrence Rivers. Additionally, the facility will provide critical access for first responders, including HAVFD and Tribal Police. The project site is located at the end of Library Rd. in Akwesasne, NY.
