SRMT Residency Board Announced Deadline Extension for Grandfather Residency Permits December 31, 2022

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe (SRMT) Residency Board would like to announce that due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic the deadline to apply for a grandfather permit under the SRMT Residency Ordinance will be extended until December 31, 2022. Grandfather permits are intended for long-term residents of Akwesasne, these permits do not expire and do not require payment for a background check. After the December 2022 deadline, any non-member resident living within the southern portion of Akwesasne will be out of compliance with the ordinance when enforcement measures take effect.

The Residency Board will continue to host virtual and in-person outreach events, and Residency Board FAQs, presentation, and applications can be found on the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Website under the "Oversight Bodies" tab or picked up at the Ionkwakiohkwaró:ron Tribal Administration Building.

If you have questions, the Residency Board can be reached at 518-358-2272 ext 2167, or by email at residency.board@srmt-nsn.gov.
