Draft Residency Ordinance Community Meetings

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe will be hosting two (2) community meetings to present a Draft Residency Ordinance for public comment and feedback. The draft ordinance follows a two-year long consultation process that included a community survey completed by 1,204 tribal members; with approximately 72% supporting the development of a Residency Law.

The first community meeting to present and discuss the Draft Residency Ordinance will be held on Wednesday, Enníska/February 6, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. in the Tribe’s new administration Building (Ionkwakiohkwaro:ron, Our Group Gathered) located at 71 Margaret Terrance Memorial Way. A second meeting will be held on Wednesday, Enníska/February 20, 2019 at the same time and location. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed.

A summary of the Draft Residency Ordinance will be distributed at the community meetings and presented as a PowerPoint. The summary and PowerPoint will be accessible prior to the February 6th meeting through the Tribal Members Portal located on the Tribe’s website at www.srmt-nsn.gov.
