Public Notice: SRMT Environment Division and Nelson Tree Service Prune Trees

There is still time to get your trees pruned! The SRMT Environment Division continues to work with National Grid’s line clearance contractor, Nelson Tree Service as they continue pruning trees along power utility right-of-ways in an effort to protect electrical service delivery to the community. Work began in mid-June and will continue through the end of August. In September, National Grid will shift its focus from pruning ash trees to cutting and removing ash trees along their power utility right-of-ways. Many ash trees are infected with the Emerald Ash Borer insect and once dead, ash trees will become unsafe and pose a risk to community members and to the reliability of the electrical service. Once the work is completed, National Grid will not revisit line clearance for another 5-years. In order to help restore some of the loss in tree cover, the SRMT Environment Division will offer the planting of replacement trees at no cost.

Community members are encouraged to cooperate with National Grid and their contractor, Nelson Tree Service, and also encouraged to contact the Environment Division if you have any questions at (518) 358-5937
