SUMMARY: Reporting to the Custodian Supervisor, the Crew Leader coordinates and assists activities of workers engaged in cleaning Tribal buildings and maintains a safe working environment for all Tribal offices and public areas.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following and are not limited to:

  • Assigns tasks to workers, and inspects completed work for conformance to standards.
  • Perform regular inspections of the Tribal facilities for sanitary condition, standards of cleanliness, site condition and order.
  • To ensure that the proper use of tools and equipment are consistent with manufacture recommendations and that all equipment is properly maintained and serviced according to manufacture recommendations.
  • To hold regular conference and interview meetings with the custodial team members to ensure staff have the training and equipment needed so they can respond effectively to day-to-day and or emergency service requests promptly.
  • To have the team trained and properly equipped in the effective sanitation measures related to Covid 19 protocols as issued by the organization.
  • Establish protocols and standard operating procedures for sanitation process such as, general cleaning, sanitizing furnishings, proper use of floor and buffing equipment, use of special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease/contaminates.
  • Ensures staff are trained in Safety Data Sheet procedures.
  • Reviews annually and maintains a current inventory record of all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for cleaning materials used at any SRMT location, that the binder is readily available and easily accessed for viewing.
  • Maintains employee schedules.
  • Approves employees’ hours worked on time sheets, approves leave requests and submits to the Supervisor for review.
  • Assists in Maintaining inventory of supplies, reviews stored materials inventory, ensures items are stored properly and orderly, submit Purchase Requisitions, monitors receipt of materials, and submits receiving reports to the FMD Administrative Assistant and or Supervisor.
  • Maintains and updates Custodial Standard Operating Procedures, reviews practices of assigned staff and recommends procedures to enhance the services.
  • Assists in snow plowing and removal as may be required from time to time, will participate in ensuring egress areas are cleared and maintained during winter events.
  • Submits work orders for repairs to maintenance, monitors environmental systems and equipment for Tribal buildings, reports potential concerns to Supervisor, and or Director if the concern requires immediate attention.
  • Assist in and performs duties consistent with custodial duties and services to clean offices, and assigned areas, vacuum rugs, sweeping and mopping of floors, dusting of office furniture, clean windows, window ledges and lighting systems.
  • Maintains keys and key inventory assignments for assigned staff specific to secure offices environments.
  • Reviews in detail potential disciplinary measures concerning direct reports, issues disciplinary measures as needed.
  • Establishes and verifies potential infraction contrary to the Employee Handbook when necessary and discusses or councils the noted issues with personnel, recommends and directs solutions.
  • Maintains daily oversight of proposed discipline and consults with the Supervisor as needed for direction and recommendations, for complex situations that require Supervisor coordination and or direction.
  • Communicate with co-workers to ensure sufficient planning for custodial services and activities.
  • Attend all required meetings and provide input and recommendations.
  • Other intermittent duties as may be assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs subordinates in the Custodian unit. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training subordinates, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining subordinates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensure time and attendance requirements are satisfied.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) AND
    • One (1) year related experience and/or training.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations in a fast-paced fluid environment. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
