Tribal Election Board Announces Scheduled Public Meetings

The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Election Board has scheduled three public meetings in advance of a referendum to be held on Saturday April 30, 2011. The meeting dates are Wednesday April 20, 2011, Saturday April 23, 2011 and Wednesday April 27, 2001. The April 20 and April 27 meetings will take place at 6:00 pm in the lobby of the Tribal Community Building. The April 23, 2011 meeting will take place at 10:00 am also in the lobby of the Tribal Community Building.
The referendum will ask voters, “Do you support the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s expansion project at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino?” An affirmative response shall mean that the Tribal Council will undertake the Expansion Project as presented at community meetings and a negative response shall mean that the Tribe will not undertake the Expansion Project.
Community members are welcomed and encouraged to attend any or all of the scheduled public meetings.
